Title in Portuguese
O discurso do capitão: a emergência do bolsonarismo e sua guerra cultural
Keywords in Portuguese
Bolsonarismo
Cultura comum
Fascismo
Guerra cultural

Abstract in English
This thesis addresses the formation of Bolsonarism, scrutinizing it in three aspects: its characterization from political and historical elements; the political and geopolitical contexts that led to its emergence; and, finally, its place in national politics. In addition, this thesis also focuses on the cultural war undertaken by Bolsonarism, analyzing it from the construction of its speeches and its symbolic representations. Thus, it was possible to understand it as a device for agency and popular mobilization. In order to do so, the thesis is based on the theory developed by Raymond Williams, defined by him as cultural materialism. From this theory, we highlight the concept of common culture as the main instrument of analysis. As a whole, this study on Bolsonarism and its cultural war is a long-term one, that is, it seeks to understand them as part of the political history of Brazil and its cultural construction. thus, the aim is to combine historical and cultural studies in order to contribute to the analysis of the Brazilian present time.
