Com o progresso dos estudos literários da Bíblia Hebraica, a ironia tem sido identificada como um recurso recorrente. Apesar de não ser nomeada, encontram-se diversos textos nos quais se espera que o leitor perscrute além do significado explícito e alcance uma concepção mais ampla e integral do relato. Dentre tais textos, merecem destaque aqueles nos quais profetas são personagens centrais. Reputados como personagens distintos, os profetas exibem uma percepção singular da realidade. Assim, muitas vezes em seus oráculos, a ironia irrompe como resultado de perspectivas diferentes: a comum, da audiência, e a distinta, do profeta. Contudo, esses agentes de ironia também figuram como alvos dela mesma. Em algumas situações, os profetas são ironizados por não cumprirem com as expectativas presumidas e associadas ao seu ofício. Estudar essas situações a partir do instrumental da análise literária é o foco do presente estudo.

With the progress of literary studies of the Hebrew Bible, irony has been detected as a recurring resource. Although not named, there are several texts where the reader is expected to look beyond the explicit meaning and reach a broader and integral conception of the story. Among such texts, those that involve prophets as central characters deserve to be highlighted. Reputed as distinct characters, the prophets exhibit a unique perception of reality. Thus, often in his oracles, irony springs in the text as a result of different perspectives: the common one from the audience, and the distinct from the prophet. However, these agents of irony are sometimes depicted as targets of irony as well. In some situations, the prophets are ironized for not meeting the presumed expectations associated with their office. Studying these situations from the literary analysis instrumental is the focus of this research.
