In the Hebrew Bible, the Genesis 3 narrative describes the Fall of mankind by means of the serpent's temptation. Our research aims to deepen the study of the serpent's role in an episode that, according to the Bible, represents the beginning of human history. An analysis was conducted taking into account ancient Jewish literature, using non-rabbinic documents. We then studied the figure of the serpent and the narrative of the Fall featured in the pseudo-epigraph of Jubilees, in the Deuterocanonical book of Wisdom, in the works of the philosopher Philo and the historian Josephus, as well as apocalyptic literature works Apocalypse of Abraham, 2 Enoch and 3 Baruc, and the recensions of Life of Adam and Eve. Thus, we present a set of Jewish interpretations concerning the serpent of Gn 3, for a further understanding of the fundamentals of the traditions related to this figure that permeates the imaginary of humankind to this day. The figure of the serpent has been interpreted in different ways over time, sometimes as an animal and others as Satan himself, The Adversary of God. We mapped these different perspectives and provide some general considerations about the context in which they were woven.
