Abstract in English
The master's dissertation Cherry blossoms and ocean waves: dialogues between Hirokazu Kore-eda's cinema and mono no aware aesthetics draws parallels between contemporary Japanese cinema and classical philosophical aesthetics. The focus of the study is the first two films of the director, who brings in his artistic processes a series of elements whose interpretations dialogue with mono no aware, widely discussed in its various academic definitions. The interpretive applicability of this concept is discussed in depth in the chapters dedicated to the films Maborosi (1995) and After Life (1998), using qualitative case study as methodology of analysis. At the end of the research, it was concluded that more than an aesthetic theory observed in the films, the mono no aware present in Kore-eda's cinema is about an expansion of the way of experiencing and enjoying the cinematographic experience itself, enlarging the range of references of the public and the possibilities of relationship with the work of art presented
