O presente trabalho tem por objetivo discutir qual o papel autores engajados, como Carlos Drummond de Andrade e Chico Buarque de Holanda, podem desempenhar no retrato crítico da realidade. Sobretudo nas produções desses autores que têm como foco o desvelamento das realidades das classes trabalhadores em momentos de Estado de Exceção, no caso do poeta mineiro o Estado Novo de Getúlio Vargas (1937-1945) e no que tange a produção do compositor carioca a Ditadura Militar (1964-1985). Caberá também à presente pesquisa discutir a importância dessas figuras do campo artístico enquanto intelectuais que apresentam e representam o nosso país.

This study aims to discuss what role committed authors, such as Carlos Drummond de Andrade and Chico Buarque de Holanda, can make in the critical portrayal of reality. Especially in the productions of these authors who focus on unveiling the realities of the working classes in moments of State of Exception, in the case of the poet from Minas Gerais the Estado Novo of Getúlio Vargas (1937-1945) and in what concerns the production of the composer from Rio de Janeiro the Dictatorship Military (1964-1985). It will also be up to this research to discuss the importance of these figures from the artistic field as intellectuals who present and represent our country.
