Stela do Patrocínio

Stela do Patrocínio
Abstract in English
The present thesis spans across the fields of literary criticism, aesthetics and ethics and was driven by the following question: Which dilemmas the texts compiled within the book Reino dos bichos e dos animais é o meu nome (Kingdom of all beasts and animals is my name - 2001) attributed to Stela do Patrocínio provoke for literary criticism? Faced with this question, this work has evolved simultaneously in its size, broadening its corpus (as well as gaining diversity in its discussion) and in structure, deflecting in some aspects from the standards of thesis format. In order to deal with those texts attributed to Stela, a "black, nigga and creole" woman, who was hospitalized in the Juliano Moreira Asylum for 30 years, it became essential to discuss some issues related to the discourse of literary criticism, its premises, its games and its rules and the role played by the researcher before the statements subalternized subjects, thus it became necessary to test other ways of looking, listening, feeling and experiencing this babble, which builds itself as a collection of anecdotes and speaks on the disaffection against the black body and seeks for a "body without organs".
