Abstract in English
In this dissertation I analyze and interpret a corpus of poems by the Mozambican writer Noémia de Sousa. The poems, found in the "Biography" section of the book Sangue Negro [Black Blood] (2016), are, namely, "Se me quiseres conhecer" [If you want to know me]; "Poema da infância distante" [Poem of distant childhood]; "Shimani" [Shimani]; "Deixa passar o meu povo" [Let my people go]; "Poema para um amor futuro" [Poem for a future love]; "Poema" [Poem]; "Se este poema fosse" [If this poem were...], and "Instantâneo" [Instantaneous]. The analysis is based on the investigation of the aesthetic dispositifs of the poems and their intertwining with the Mozambican social-historical context during Portuguese colonialism. To this end, I mobilize a comparative perspective by establishing a dialogue among the literary field and other fields of knowledge. When combining the aesthetic and the ethical dimensions, one notes how Noémia de Sousa's poetic texts take on a combative function by tensioning colonial discourses at the same time they offer an opportunity to think the political subjectivity related to the different subjects evoked in the poems.
