O objetivo do presente trabalho é acompanhar o processo de desenvolvimento de estudos de folclore na Rússia, no qual o ensaio "Folclore como forma específica de arte", escrito em 1929, por Piotr Bogatyriov e Roman Jakobson, ocupa o central lugar. Apresentamos a tradução e a análise desse famoso trabalho que pré-determinou o caminho de estudos de folclore modernos. O seu tema principal é a delimitação entre o folclore e a literatura traçada através de uso dos termos lingüísticos langue e parole. A partir dessa comparação, foram obtidas as características mais importantes do folclore, necessárias para tal delimitação. Como mostra a análise, elas podem ser utilizadas nos estudos do folclore moderno e até da literatura de massas. Como exemplo de aplicação do método funcional dos estudos da cultura popular criado por Piotr Bogatyriov, incluímos a tradução e análise do seu ensaio "Os fatos etnográficos ativo-coletivos, passivo-coletivos, produtivos e não produtivos" de 1939

Abstract in English
The objective of the present work is to accompany the process of development of the folklore studies in Russia, in which the assay "Folklore as special form of art", written in 1929, by Piotr Bogatyriov and Roman Jakobson, occupies the central place. We present the translation and the analysis of this famous work that pre-determined the way of the modern folklore studies. Its main subject is the delimitation between the folklore and the literature traced with the application of the linguistic terms langue and parole. From this comparison, there where gotten the most important characteristics of the folklore, necessary for such delimitation. As the analysis shows, they can be used in the studies of the modern folklore and even of the mass literature. As an example of application of the functional method of the studies of the popular culture, created by Piotr Bogatyriov, we include the translation and the analysis of its assay "The active-collective, passive-collective, productive and no productive ethnographic facts" published in 1939
