Abstract in English
The MA thesis studies the role of archaeological theory in the archaeological practice at Conceição dos Ouros, Minas Gerais, in the years between 1998 and 2003. Archaeological finds, rescue activities and excavations at the town enables the author to think about identity, preservation and management of the archaeological heritage, particularly studying how the local museum deals with the local community. Public archaeology activities, as well as archaeological education, were carried out at the Indian Museum, including pupils and the general public, in order to discuss the history of the town, the urban streetscape and the hinterland
