This work is fundamentally based on the reading of the novel Adam Ben Kelev, or Adam Stein Resurrected as it was published in the USA, written by the Israeli author Yoram Kaniuk. This is a novel about a Jewish-German clown who lives in Germany and is caught with his family by the Nazi forces during the Second World War. Once in the death camp, he is recognized by Commandant Klein, who shows his gratefulness to the clown has involuntarily saved his life when he was ready to commit suicide: the jokes and plays worked so well that made him change his mind. Klein then alls Adam Stein to the negotiation table and tells he could live working in the death camp as a clown to amuse the Jews before their execution. There is one serious stipulation although: Adam must live like a dog, on fours, being at the same time a company and a rival to Rex, Klein's German shepherd pet. The clown agrees and performs for his wife and daughter and all the Jews about to be killed and turned into smoke. Adam survives, becomes a rich man and tries to live in Germany but decides to move to Israel after being informed that his other daughter is there, married and pregnant. Disgracefully she dies before the expected reunion between father and daughter. Then Joseph, the husband, takes Adam to visit her tomb and tells his funny father in law to play. Adam goes crazy, turns into a dog again and is taken to the hospital. There are a lot of internments: the institute is comparable to death camps. The last internment occurs after Adam attempting, to assassinate his lover. Then he goes to that institute built up in the desert by a American do-gooder, a lunatic woman whom was driven to believe that she can help anticipate the coming of the Messiah himself. And a bunch of lunatics, more of them survivors from death camp like Adam, believe the clown os the anointed one. Kaniuk juxtapositioned the circus, the death camp and the institute in order to create a fantastic, comic and pungent fable about power, personal and collective drama in our post-Shoa, or postmodern days. The starting point of this work is the artistic expression in accordance with authors like Bakhtin, Foucault, Fredric Jameson, Jean Baudrillard, Linda Hutcheon and Marjorie Perloff, Deleuze and Guattari, Carlos Rincón, Umberto Eco and others that have done important contributions to the understanding of this exceptionally, complex era, art and artists. It must be reminded that in the case of an Israeli book and author it is more complicated, because in addition to the international context of post and posts, there is the special situation of Israel in its post-Zionist phase. Kaniuk, like other post modern, produces a very hard satire against local and global politics, Zionism, capitalism and all kinds of religion someone can find. Some have criticized him for not being able to get a kind of a balanced text according with traditional models. But the reader can conclude that this novel is an unbalanced imperfect work of art because perfection is something that belongs to good old days before the nazi devastation, which is presented as Western civilization at its best. So, imperfection is in the core of the work and comes from the radically, critical intentions of the author. To show these intentions clearer and the author's high goals, having in mind this is a work mainly about the Jewish experience in our times, I compare the novel to a quite different kind of artistic expression. Architecture, as we can see in Frank O'Gehry's postmodern works. Gehry became famous around the world for making a mess of the traditional humanistic point of view, treating "normal" perspective in a deconstructive style. The same occurs in Kaniuk novel. All along my text I try to find commom points in their apparently distant works. Besides their post modern era (Gehry was born in 1929, Kaniuk was in 1930), they have something else in common that is important to be mentioned. They are both Jewish artists. In Kaniuk's work the Jewishness is obvious, which is not the case upon Gehry's work. But we can see reflexes of his Jewishness in his famous Santa Monica house (Fredric Jameson realized it in avery acute way, as usual), for instance: the instability is expressed by all means at hand. The use of cheap materials, the changing that is not change, the presence of old in new stuff and so on. We can see signals of it in his own family name that once used to be Goldberg. He explained that he decided to change his name in order to protect his decendents from anti-semitism. Many years later he confessed to regret that dramatic move. I tried to mix two Jewish artists apparently so distant - one is an Israeli, a sabra, the other is a Canadian-American - as examples of the Jewish experience in our times. My intention was to explain how those artists can make people realize the problematic situation of mankind in face of the Shoa, that continues to affect both Jews and non-Jews at the same time and in many unsuspected ways. I mean, this can be at the same time the experience of men and women - in the global sense - whose mind and bodies were and continue to be used for feeding the industry of death in an absolutely ridiculous and terrible way
