Abstract in English
Harry Potter, the series of books written by J.K. Rowling, is worldwide famous for breaking several sales records: until 2017, the seven books have already sold five hundred million copies in the entire planet, creating a network of readers that love the adventures of Harry, Rony and Hermione. Firstly, this dissertation intends to understand which Harry Potter's narrative elements contributed to generate all this commotion. By splitting Rowling's work in three different narrative blocks, I analyze how the space of narrative (Hogwarts) was constructed, the friendship between the three main characters and Harry's growing and evolution, according to the romance paradigms studied by Frye and Bildungsroman, according to Bakhtin, Lukács and Moretti's studies. In addition, we did a field research with Harry Potter's empirical readers, aiming to note if my analytical reading would justify the fact that Harry Potter is an extremely important book in the lives of so many readers. The results that were collected show the observations that these readers do about the space of narrative, the three main characters and the importance that the series had on their personal formation and on their formation as readers. Finally, I debate about the elements that make Harry Potter endure on time, as well as to indicate how experience and affective memory are very important to build a critical approach on Harry Potter's text.
