A pesquisa propõe uma leitura comparada de Perto do coração selvagem (1943), de Clarice Lispector, e Um retrato do artista quando jovem (1916), de James Joyce, à luz do conceito do Bildungsroman (romance de formação). Tomando como referência o romance paradigmático de Goethe, Os anos de aprendizado de Wilhelm Meister, a dissertação busca analisar os fios condutores das trajetórias de Joana e de Stephen Dedalus, retraçando os caminhos e descaminhos percorridos em suas respectivas trajetórias artísticas. O romance de formação feminino, presente tanto no romance goethiano quanto no romance de Clarice Lispector, também faz parte do escopo do estudo

This research proposes a comparative reading of Perto do coração selvagem (1943), by Clarice Lispector, and Um retrato do artista quando jovem (1916), by James Joyce, in the light of the concept of the Bildungsroman (apprenticeship novel). Taking Goethe's paradigmatic novel Os anos de aprendizado de Wilhelm Meister as a reference, the dissertation seeks to analyze the conducting threads in the trajectories of Joana and Stephen Dedalus, tracing the paths and detours traveled in their respective artistic careers. The novel of female formation, present both in the Goethian novel and in Clarice Lispector's novel, is also part of the study's scope
