A presente dissertação objetiva estudar a dramaturgia de um dos autores mais importantes do teatro brasileiro dos últimos vinte anos, Luís Alberto de Abreu. O trabalho consta de duas partes que têm por intuito a experimentação de uma interlocução entre o geral e o particular, no que diz respeito ao estudo de um autor de extensa produção. Desse modo, recupera-se a trajetória histórica do dramaturgo, atendo-se, posteriormente, à análise estética de um de seu textos mais emblemáticos. A primeira parte, que compreende o primeiro capítulo, de cunho documental e informativo, constitui-se em uma espécie de apresentação do dramaturgo, descrevendo a receptividade crítica que sua obra logrou, desde sua estréia, com Foi bom, meu bem?, em 1980, até Iepe, em 1998. A segunda parte é formada pela análise do texto O livro de Jó, um dos grandes sucessos do teatro brasileiro dos anos 90 e da dramaturgia de Abreu, importante fonte de pesquisa do teatro praticado neste fim de século. Tomando como ponto de partida um texto literário formal, marco da literatura hebraica, a peça de Abreu recupera e atualiza a trajetória do herói sábio. Contemporânea de um teatro para o qual a fragmentação e a ausência de qualquer contigüidade consistente transformaram-se em forças monopolizadoras, a dramaturgia de Luís Alberto de Abreu propõe o encontro do espectador com uma palavra que é, a um só tempo, drama e literatura

The present dissertation is aimed at studying the dramaturgy of one of the most important authors of the Brazilian theater in the last twenty years: Luis Alberto de Abreu. The work consists of two parts for which its purpose is the experimentation of a dialogue between the general and the particular, related to an author's extensive production study. This way, the playwright's historical path is recovered, abiding by, subsequently to the aesthetic analysis of one of his most emblematic texts. The first part, which comprehends the first chapter of documental and informative hallmark, is constituted in a type of the playwright's presentation, describing the critical receptivity that his work has achieved, since its Premiere in 1980, with Foi bom, meu bem?, up to Iepe, in 1998. The second part of the dissertation is formed by the analysis of the text O livro de Jó. One of the great successes of the Brazilian theater of the 90's and Abreu's dramaturgy, O livro de Jó is constituted of an important source of research of the practiced theater at this end of the century, having as its starting point, a formal literary text, the hallmark of the Hebraic literature. Abreu's play recovers and updates the path of the wise hero. Contemporary of a theater for which the fragmentation and the absence of any solid proximity transformed into monopolized, forces, the dramaturgy of Lufs Alberto de Abreu proposes the spectator's encounter with a word that is, at one time, drama and literature
