Esta tese tem como objetivo o estudo da lírica de Vinicius de Moraes (1913 - 1980), mais especificamente O Caminho Para a Distância , obra de estréia do poeta. Trataremos particularmente do resgate da tradição literária, tanto do ponto de vista da forma - há três sonetos e uma romanza no livro, além de poemas erigidos com padrão métrico -, quanto do ponto de vista do conteúdo; do diálogo estabelecido com o romantismo, que se verifica na inclinação ao confessionalismo e na noção de gênio poeta, entre outros fatores; da manifestação do sublime; e da figuração do erótico. A leitura cuidadosa, não somente do livro em questão, bem como da obra poética de Vinicius de Moraes possibilitou-nos reavaliar, na esteira de Antonio Candido e Davi Mourão Filho, a noção de que a poesia do autor seja dividida em duas fases estanques e completamente opostas, com uma transição entre elas. Constatamos uma forte persistência de marcas da intitulada primeira fase na segunda, como, por exemplo, a dialética entre tradição e modernidade e a eleição da mulher como figura central de suas preocupações.

This thesis aims to study the lyrical work of Vinicius de Moraes (1913 - 1980), more specifically O Caminho Para a Distancia , the poet's debut work. We will particularly deal with the rescue of the literary tradition, both from the point of view of form - there are three sonnets and a novel in the book, in addition to poems erected with a metric pattern -, and from the point of view of content; the dialogue established with romanticism, which can be seen in the inclination towards confessionalism and in the notion of poet genius, among other factors; of the manifestation of the sublime; and the figuration of the erotic. The careful reading, not only of the book in question, as well as the poetic work of Vinicius de Moraes, allowed us to reassess, in the wake of Antonio Candido and Davi Mourão Filho, the notion that the author's poetry is divided into two watertight phases and completely opposite, with a transition between them. We found a strong persistence of marks from the so-called first phase in the second, such as, for example, the dialectic between tradition and modernity and the election of women as the central figure of their concerns.
