Nascido na Sicília, Luigi Pirandello foi um dos autores que muito contribuiu para o surgimento da arte literária moderna do Primo Novecento. Seu amadurecimento intelectual trouxe maior engajamento crítico nas questões político-sociais, que se refletia em uma literatura menos passional e mais reflexiva. O cerne desta pesquisa é a tradução comentada e anotada de sete novelas pertencentes à coletânea das Novelle per un anno, cuja temática é a vida quotidiana durante a Primeira Guerra Mundial. O presente estudo estrutura-se em três eixos principais: primeiramente, apresenta-se uma síntese dos dados bibliográficos da produção artística de Pirandello e a tradução/recepção de suas obras em território nacional. Explora-se os gêneros textuais de maior vendagem na primeira metade do século XX, bem como a mudança de escopo que se deu no mercado editorial brasileiro até os dias presentes. Prossegue-se com a análise literária do corpus de novelas selecionadas para este estudo, na qual se explora de que forma elas se interrelacionam nos níveis narrativo, cronológico, biográfico e histórico. Mesmo sem dependerem umas das outras para se materializarem como objetos literários completos, veremos que as novelas selecionadas podem formar uma composição literária maior, em que muitas das lacunas que surgem se tomadas isoladamente conseguem ser preenchidas quando as reunimos. Por último, são apresentados os resultados das traduções das novelas selecionadas, explorando ainda as peculiaridades e os caminhos percorridos durante o processo de tradução.

Born in Sicily, Luigi Pirandello was one of the authors who contributed greatly to the emergence of the modern literature art of the Primo Novecento. His intellectual maturity brought about a greater critical engagement in political and social issues, which was reflected in a less passionate and more reflective literature. The aim of this research is the commented and annotated translation of seven novels belonging to the Novelle per un anno collection, which have daily life in the middle of the First World War as its theme. The present study is structured in three main axes: firstly, it presents a synthesis of the bibliographic data of Pirandello's artistic production and the translation / reception of his works in brasilian territory. It explores the best-selling textual genres in the first half of the 20th century, as well as the change in scope that has taken place in the Brazilian publishing market to the present day. It is proceeded with the literary analysis of the corpus of novels selected for this study, in which it is explored how they interelate to each other at the narrative, chronological, biographical and historical levels. Even without depending on each other to materialize as complete literary objects, we will see that the selected novels can form a larger literary composition, in which many of the gaps that arise in their individualities can be filled when brought together. Finally, the results of the translations of the selected novels are presented, also exploring the peculiarities and paths taken during the translation process.
