Keywords in Portuguese
Afetividade
Cartas particulares
Correspondência familiar
Emigração
Gramática epistolar

Abstract in English
The present research brings to light unpublished drafts and letters handwritten by a woman of Italian descendant born in Brazil and her two relatives from Southern Italy, dated between 1988 and 2015. The corpus, a set of 24 letters that seeks to strengthen family ties, is the basis of an analysis based on qualitative research to achieve the following objective: to analyze, starting from stylistic and/or linguistic elements, how affection is manifested in the exchange of private letters between family members in the context of emigration, considering that each one has a particular sociolinguistic and cultural profile. To achieve this, we studied in each part that constitutes the epistolary grammar (BRUNETON-GOVERNATORI; MOREUX, 1998; ANTONELLI, 2004; MAGRO, 2014; AMENTA; FERRONI, 2019) the occurrence of phenomena that evoke familiarity, closeness and demonstrate affection between the correspondents, according to textual linguistics (PALERMO, 2013; KOCH, 2015). Therefore, the analysis starts from the macro to the microstructure, in a descriptive and interpretive way. We also emphasize that the research is characterized as documentary, since the data collection is based mainly on documents. These, in turn, constitute primary sources, given that the set of letters belongs to a personal archive never studied or published; the material, combined with the semi-structured interview with the descendant, also made possible a small study on memory and identity. The results obtained demonstrate that the affective character is present especially in the most exposed parts of the letter, that is, in its opening and closing. These sections are marked, above all, by adjectives, superlatives, suffixes, prefixes, diminutives and deitics, gaining a greater degree of variability according to the linguistic competence of the writer and/or his socio-cultural profile.
