Abstract in English
In this work, we tried to give a modest contribution towards raising questions that might help to enrich the studies about literature translation in a general way, and in particular, the work of Guimarães Rosa; and on the other hand, as an inherent and desirable result of this process, to shine some light into a complex and obscure story of Sagarana, A hora e vez de Augusto Matraga. From these activities, it became possible to formulate some requirements that we believe to be essential to consider when translating the work of this brazilian author, from Minas Gerais. In essence they don't differ from what is precognised by most scholars of translation work, but what makes Guimarães Rosa work translation particular is the intensity that those requirements must be taken into consideration. The fact that Rosa, in his narrative, utilises a wide range of areas of knowledge, to generate interpretation elements, which are only revealed to the reader in an indirect way, gives the analytical capacity of the initial text a highlighted position amongst the abilities of a translator. At the end on the day, he will have to re-write in his own language his own interpretation of the work - amongst an infinite number of possible interpretations - and to read Guimarães Rosa is as difficult as re-writing it
