The general objective of this research is to unveil the female identity of the protagonist of Lady Susan, a novel written in epistolary form by Jane Austen during a transitional period of her writing skills development, published after her death. To achieve its purpose, the dissertation applied French Semiotics, primarily Algirdas J. Greimas and Jacques Fontanille including the Semiotics of Passions, Forms of Life and the Beau Geste in combination with the digital Corpus Linguistics program Antconc. A search for lexemes, keywords, collocations and concordances was possible and their compilation lead the investigation towards narrative concordances, collocates, isotopy connectors and effects on discourse meanings and the syntagmatic iteratives. Thus, a meticulous examination of impressions regarding Lady Susan in social exchanges was undertaken, along with a collation of distinct perspectives of her skilled performative versions. The result was s series of remarkable thematic, figurative and pathemic roles projected into beaux gestes and unusual forms of life. To ensure axiological contextualization, the theorical foundation relating to the concepts of identity and sexuality by Paul Ricoeur, Michel Foucault, and Simone De Beauvoir, among other scholars, were related to the textual characteristics found, thus unveiling the singularity of the protagonist in power relations concerning motherhood, the condition of women in the English society indicated on Corpus, and the inflexible hegemony of social control. The research found vast and surprising identity attributes of identity in effects of truth that, assessed with its social agent, generated considerable denunciative repercussion
