Este trabalho pretende, por meio da análise de alguns contos, buscar evidências de similaridades e dissimilaridades entre as escritoras Katherine Mansfield e Clarice Lispector. Pretende-se ver até que ponto Clarice Lispector, ecoando sua memória discursiva, reflete estética e eticamente a ficção de Katherine Mansfield acerca da mulher, quanto aos temas da solidão, velhice, morte e relações conjugais e familiares; pretende-se também ver se, ou até que ponto, Clarice Lispector, com sua prosa inovadora, vai além de Katherine Mansfield. Como base deste trabalho serão utilizados alguns aspectos da teoria da polifonia de Mikhail Bakhtin; as análises se concentram nas vozes que povoam o discurso narrativo (discurso direto, indireto, indireto livre e narrador), envolvendo questões lexicais, semânticas e estilísticas, além de aspectos de entonação e pontuação

This paper aims at finding evidence of similarities and dissimilarities in the fiction of Katherine Mansfield and Clarice Lispector, through the analysis of some of their short stories. The goal is to see how far Clarice Lispector, echoing her discursive memory, reflects aesthetically and ethically the fiction of Katherine Mansfleld about women in relation to the themes of loneliness, old age, death, and marriage and family relalionships; besides, this study aims at verifying whether and to what extent Clarice Lispector moves a step ahead with her innovative prose. As the basis for this research some aspects of Mikhal Bakhtin's theory of polyphony will be used: the analyses will focus on the voices of the narrative discourse (direct speech, indirect speech, free indirect speech and narrator), involving lexical, semantic and stylistic aspects besides intonation and punctuation
