Abstract in English
From a comparative study of texts À l'ami qui ne m'a pas sauvé la vie, Hervé Guibert, and "Cartas para além do muro", Caio Fernando Abreu, this research aims to analyze the way in which these authors have developed, in their literary texts, the experience of a body affected by the symptoms of AIDS. In their narratives we see an ethical and an aesthetic development of the body. In this sense, writing is a way to reflect on their physical conditions and establish emotional bonds with other individuals in a period (the late 1980s and early 1990s) in which the knowledge about this disease was limited, while the prejudice about the ways of infection and sexual lives of people with HIV was even more remarkable than today. Thus, the theoretical basis of this study will be guided by authors who have written about the body, relating it to language, identity, power and ethics.
