Esta dissertação tem como objetivos identificar e analisar as necessidades e dificuldades apresentadas por alunos estrangeiros e intercambistas durante o processo de adaptação e integração ao contexto universitário na Universidade de São Paulo (USP) para serem consideradas visando a elaboração de unidades didáticas de Ensino do Português para Objetivo Universitário (PU). O referencial teórico da pesquisa considerou o histórico e o panorama do ensino de língua portuguesa apresentados por Almeida Filho (2006, 2012) e por Furtoso (2011, 2015) e os trabalhos sobre o ensino de português língua estrangeira (PLE) na USP (AMADO, 2012b; MANDALÁ, 2015). Além disso, consideramos os pressupostos metodológicos do ensino de línguas para contextos específicos descritos por Mangiante e Parpette (2004, 2011), Carras et al. (2007), Mourlhon-Dallies (2008) e Albuquerque-Costa e Parpette (2016) e Madruga (2014). A metodologia de pesquisa foi de natureza qualitativa e seguiu as etapas de entrevista com um grupo de estudantes estrangeiros para identificar e analisar suas necessidades no contexto da USP; de seleção de materiais e conteúdos para a elaboração de unidades didáticas de Português para Objetivo Universitário (PU) a partir do portal e-Aulas da USP e a didatização de dois vídeos do portal para aplicação prática junto aos alunos. O corpus desta pesquisa consiste na análise das entrevistas e sua relação com as unidades didáticas elaboradas. Os resultados da investigação apontam para a necessidade de elaborar programas de ensino da língua portuguesa que correspondam ao que os alunos apontem como essencial para sua adaptação, o que, no contexto desta pesquisa, foi relacionado ao enfoque cultural e dificuldades na produção e compreensão oral na sala de aula. Por fim, foram levantadas limitações institucionais específicas, como a ausência de apoio e disparidade de números na oferta e demanda de cursos. A contribuição da pesquisa se insere na área do ensino de línguas para contextos universitários, mais particularmente, no ensino do português.

This thesis aims to identify and analyse the needs and difficulties presented by foreign and exchange students during the process of adaptation and integration to the university context at the University of São Paulo (USP) to be considered aiming at the elaboration of didactic units of teaching Portuguese for University Purposes (PU). The theoretical framework of the research considered the history and panorama of Portuguese language teaching as an additional language (PLA) presented by Almeida Filho (2006, 2012) and by Furtoso (2011, 2015) as well as the works on teaching Portuguese as a foreign language (PLE) at USP (AMADO, 2012b; MANDALÁ, 2015). Additionally, we consider the methodological assumptions of language teaching for specific contexts described by Mangiante and Parpette (2004, 2011), Carras et al. (2007), Mourlhon-Dallies (2008) and Albuquerque-Costa and Parpette (2016) and Madruga (2014). The research methodology was of a qualitative nature and was comprised of the following stages: interview with a group of foreign students to identify and analyse their needs in the context of USP; selection of materials and content for the development of didactic units of Portuguese for University Purposes (PU) from portal e-Aulas da USP; and the teaching of two videos from the portal for practical application with students. The corpus of this research consists of the analysis of the interviews and their relationship with the didactic units developed. The results of the investigation point to the need to develop teaching programs in the Portuguese language that correspond to what students highlight as essential for their adaptation, which, in the context of this research, was related to the cultural focus and difficulties in both oral production and oral comprehension in the classroom. Finally, specific institutional limitations were raised, such as the lack of support and the disparity in numbers in the supply and demand for courses. The research contribution is inserted in the area of language teaching for university purposes, more particularly, in the teaching of Portuguese.
