Abstract in English
This dissertation offers a critical reading of Mariel Revista de Literatura y Arte, a publication edited between 1983 and 1985, by a group of intellectuals that had just left Cuba through the Crisis of Mariel and because of that called themselves "Generación Mariel". Our reading seeks to recover the polyphony that made possible the formulation of the discourse and the cultural politics defended by the magazine, while investigates the relationship between politics and literature in the texts that circulated in the publication, as well as in its more general structure. Therefore, this text is divided in three parts: at first, we analyze the emergence of an object of discourse, the marielitos, and the discursive formations that established confrontations with the critical intervention of the magazine, from its editorial and its general syntax. In a second moment, we look at a set of short stories written by the writers and intellectuals of this generation and released in the publication, we observe the construction of spatialities and the time of the "urgency". Finally, we interrogate the texts of literary criticism and intervention published in a section from the magazine entitled "Confluencias", observing the construction of a tradition as a process, the legitimation in the literary field and the negotiation of nationality.
