Abstract in English
The theme of this thesis are the different manners of determining the terms fronteira/frontera(s) and imigrante/inmigrante(s) in the discourses of Brazil and Argentina's presidential candidates in the 2014 and 2015 elections, respectively. Regarding the different social historical formations of both countries, we have a general objective to investigate and compare different ways of building, through the discourse, the representations of border and immigrant. The specific objectives are: to verify the different forms of how borders and immigrants are determined in the discourse of the presidential candidates; to ponder on how this discourse objects are constructed, taking into consideration the imaginary and the production conditions of each statement; to observe the relation of this imaginaries with other types of exclusion, what leaded us to semantically redetermining the discourse object "border" in order to reflect on other types of borders in both countries. The present paper is endorsed by the presumed theory of the material discourse analysis (PÊCHEUX, 2015 [1983]; COURTINE, 2009; ORLANDI, 2009; INDURSKY; 2013; GUIMARÃES, 2007). The corpus is composed of discourse sequences produced in synchrony and by several interlocutors: in Brazil, those that belong to the presidential candidates in 2014; in Argentina, the presidential candidates in 2015. The analyses demonstrate the frequent association among borders and criminality, pre-built that emerge from different ways in the corpora of both countries: our hypothesis is that in Brazilian speeches, the threat focuses on what can enter through the borders, such as drugs and weapons; for those in Argentina, there is, besides all this, one more risk: the foreigner or immigrant. This confirmation has made us semantically redetermining the discourse object "border" and has made investigate how criminality and social vulnerability are related in the discourse of each country.
