Abstract in English
In Spanish language the presence and vitality of many idiomatic expressions related to bullfighting universe can be clearly seen, especially in Spanish-speaking areas where such art and correspondent traditions have more prestige. This work aims to investigate the frequency, use and metaphorical meanings of some of these expressions - specifically those ones with the term toro - in Spanish and Colombian varieties. In order to obtain data for our study, we used two corpora composed of texts extracted from Spanish and Colombian digital newspapers, compiled exclusively for this research through the methods and computational tools of Corpus Linguistics. Results from corpus analysis show some similarities and contrasts regarding the productivity, form, use and metaphorical meanings of the most recurrent expressions in the considered geographic zones
