O presente trabalho propõe-se a analisar o romance Neue Leben (2005), de Ingo Schulze, a partir de seus aspectos narratológicos. O romance se estrutura a partir da tensão estabelecida entre suas instâncias narrativas, a saber, o protagonista-narrador e o editor fictício, e traça um vasto panorama sobre os acontecimentos em torno do processo histórico da queda do Muro de Berlim e da reunificação alemã. A investigação parte da contextualização da obra no quadro das representações literárias desse período histórico, discutindo os conceitos de Wendeliteratur, Wenderoman e "literatura menor". Em seguida, investiga-se como a obra se organiza a partir do gênero do romance epistolar e mobiliza estratégias próprias deste gênero para tematizar, na trajetória do protagonista-epistológrafo Enrico Türmer, tópicos tradicionais da Wendeliteratur, como a vida na Alemanha Oriental, os acontecimentos históricos de 1989/90 e a reconstrução da vida no pós-reunificação. Examina-se, na sequência, a figura do editor fictício Ingo Schulze, discutindo o conceito de paratexto e as relações do romance com o modelo do editor hoffmaniano de Kater Murr e demonstrando como essa figura se projeta performaticamente como uma instância narrativa concorrente ao epistológrafo-narrador e não-confiável. Procura-se demonstrar, por fim, como a caracterização dessas instâncias e das relações entre elas tematiza, esteticamente, a experiência de desorientação e incerteza vivenciada durante o processo de reunificação alemã e aponta para os limites de se estabelecer uma representação literária unívoca e inequívoca sobre aquele período histórico.

This work proposes to analyze the novel Neue Leben (2005), by Ingo Schulze, from its narratological aspects. The novel is structured from the tension established between its narrative instances, namely, the protagonist-narrator and the fictional editor, and traces a wide panorama of the events surrounding the historical process of the fall of the Berlin Wall and German reunification. The investigation begins by contextualizing the work within the framework of literary representations of this historical period, discussing the concepts of Wendeliteratur, Wenderoman, and "minor literature." It then investigates how the work is organized from the genre of the epistolary novel and how it mobilizes strategies specific to this genre to thematize, in the trajectory of the protagonist-epistographer Enrico Türmer, traditional topics of Wendeliteratur, such as life in East Germany, the historical events of 1989/90 and the reconstruction of life in the post-reunification period. We then examine the figure of the fictional editor Ingo Schulze, discussing the concept of paratext and the novel's relations to Kater Murr's model of the Hoffmanian editor and demonstrating how this figure performatively projects himself as a narrative instance concurrent to the epistolographer-narrator and unreliable. It seeks to demonstrate, finally, how the characterization of these instances and the relationships between them aesthetically thematizes the experience of disorientation and uncertainty experienced during the process of German reunification and points to the limits of establishing a univocal and unequivocal literary representation of that historical period.
