Keywords in Portuguese
Apuleio - Asno de ouro
Identidade
Inconfiabilidade
Narrador em primeira pessoa

Unreliability
Abstract in English
This research intends to explore two problems concerning the first-person narrator of Apuleius' The Golden Ass: his identity and his (un)reliability. The identity problem is divided into two sections, each dedicated to an emblematic excerpt of this problem, that is, the prologue and the Madaurensem excerpt. The (un)reliability problem, frequently mentioned in Apuleian studies, is here given more depth of discussion, taking into account from the original formulation of the concept of narrative unreliability by Wayne Booth up to its most recent developments. Furthermore, a full translation in Portuguese of the Apuleian novel is here provided.
