Keywords in Portuguese
Épica grega arcaica
Homero
Saque e destruição de cidades
Title in English
Alosis/Persis: the poetics of city-sacking in the Homeric Epics
Keywords in English
Ancient Greek Epic
Homer
Sacking of cities
Abstract in English
Although it is a well-known theme in ancient greek epic, city-sacking, with rare exceptions, has not been studied comprehensively as the others. So far, research has sought exclusivelyto examine stories about the fall of the city of Troy, whilst the theoretical approach and themethodological procedures of the so-called Oral Theory have not yet been fully applied tothis theme. It is precisely this gap that this work seeks to fill by compiling the elementarycharacteristics and reconstructing the framework of tradicional references of City-sacking inthe Homeric epics.
