Abstract in English
Bacchylides, an archaic melic poet who was composing his songs between the VI and the V centuries B.C., stands out for his creative and authentic language. His songs, dithyrambs and epinician poems, highlight his utter hability with morphology by creating compunds to describe his characters. This study, therefore, seeks to analyze in which ways the gods Apollo and Zeus also benefit from these descriptions, and how the epithets assigned to them reflect their importance and their roles in epinician poetry, which not only should celebrate an athlete's victory in the panhellenic games, but are also dedicated to the gods as a means of showing piety and praise.
