A presente pesquisa tem como objeto os poemas líricos antifônicos de três tragédias de Sófocles - Édipo Rei, Electra e Filoctetes - aqui entendidos como aqueles que, dispostos em pares estróficos, comportam no mínimo dois personagens (sendo o Coro o mais das vezes um deles), dos quais ao menos um profere seus versos em metros líricos, o que resulta no seguinte corpus: ER, vv. 649-697 e vv. 1297-1368; El., vv. 86-250, 823-870, vv, 1232-1287 e vv. 1398-1441; e Fil., vv. 135-218, vv. 828-864 e vv. 1081-1217. O trabalho divide-se em duas partes. A primeira é formada por três capítulos sobre questões de forma e conteúdo relacionadas ao tipo de configuração estrutural dos poemas integrantes do corpus, como (i) a tradição do lamento fúnebre e suas manifestações na poesia épica e lírica, (ii) a pertinência da aplicação do termo kommós, tal como cunhado por Aristóteles (Poética, cap. 12), a esses poemas, (iii) o docmíaco e suas relações com os trímetros jâmbicos, típicos das passagens recitadas, e com os mesmos metros em suas modalidades sincopadas, próprios dos passos líricos. A segunda parte consiste nos comentários aos nove poemas, levando-se em conta as questões suscitadas na primeira parte, e nas traduções de cada um deles. Questões independentes daquelas, mas relevantes para a interpretação dos poemas, surgem também ao longo dos comentários, tais como o problema da unidade de caracterização do Coro, os tipos de ironia dramática nas canções de Sófocles e a técnica de reelaboração lírica de matérias constantes em episódios anteriores. Como apêndice ao trabalho há a escansão de todos os poemas traduzidos e um glossário com todos os metros encontrados nos poemas, sua classificação e abreviatura.

The subject of the current research is the antiphonic lyrics of three tragedies by Sophocles - Oedipus Tyrannus, Electra and Philoctetes - herein understood as those that, arranged in strophic pairs, comprise at least two characters (the Chorus being most of the times one of them), of which at least one utters his verses in lyrical meters, which results in the following corpus: OT, vv. 649-697 and vv. 1297-1368; El., vv. 86-250, 823-870, vv, 1232-1287 and vv. 1398-1441; and Phil., vv. 135-218, vv. 828-864 and vv. 1081-1217. This work is divided into two parts. The first consists of three chapters on issues of form and content related to the type of structural configuration of the poems that make up the corpus, such as (i) the funeral lament tradition and its manifestations in epic and lyrical poetry, (ii) the pertinence of application of the term kommós, as coined by Aristotle (Poetics, ch. 12), to these poems, (iii) the dochmiac and its relations to the iambic trimeters, typical of recited passages, and to the same meters in their syncopated modalities, proper of the lyrical parts. The second part consists of comments on the nine poems, taking into account the issues raised in the first part, and of the translations of each of them. Issues independent of those from the first part, but relevant to the interpretation of the poems, also arise throughout the comments, such as the problem of the unity of the Chorus' characterization, the types of dramatic irony in Sophocles' songs and the technique of lyrical re-elaboration of materials contained in previous episodes. As an appendix there is a scansion of all translated poems and a glossary with all the meters found in the poems, their classification and abbreviation.
