Esta pesquisa tem como seu objeto o livro 15 das Metamorfoses de Ovídio. Neste último livro do poema, portanto especialmente significativo em termos do conjunto da obra, Ovídio trabalha episódios que remetem sobretudo aos universos inextricáveis da política e da religião, inserindo-os em uma dinâmica de progressão e continuidade através da qual ele constrói a noção de Augusto enquanto telos histórico-político de sua história universal, iniciada com a cosmogonia do livro 1. Paralelamente, o poeta emula virtualmente toda a tradição greco-latina para se colocar, no epílogo de seu magnum opus, não só como seu herdeiro, mas, sobretudo, seu ponto culminante um telos poético. A dissertação consiste em uma tradução com comentário deste livro. A tradução, realizada a partir da edição latina de Tarrant (2004), aqui reproduzida, foi organizada verso a verso, visando a facilitar o cotejo com o texto latino, embora não seja metrificada; além disso, buscou-se manter, quando possível, os ornamentos (figuras, tropos e metaplasmos) presentes no original. O comentário ao texto explora suas características elocutivas, como particularidades métricas, a presença de ornamentos e seu uso mimético; as alusões de Ovídio a modelos gregos e latinos, através das quais grande parte do sentido do texto é construído; a fortuna crítica dos episódios e passagens; por fim, procurou-se fornecer as informações necessárias para a compreensão oportuna de um texto cujo contexto de produção, referências históricas e diálogo com a tradição são extremamente distantes do leitor moderno

This research has as its object Ovids Metamorphoses Book 15. In this last book of the poem, therefore especially significant in terms of the work as a whole, Ovid works with episodes that refer mainly to the inextricable universes of politics and religion, inserting them in a dynamics of progression and continuity through which he builds the notion of Augustus as the historical-political telos of his universal history, which began with the cosmogony of book 1. At the same time, the poet emulates virtually the entire Greco-Latin tradition to place himself, in the epilogue of his magnum opus, not only as its heir, but, above all, its culmination a poetic telos. The dissertation consists of a translation with commentary of this book. The translation, for which I adopted the Latin edition by Tarrant (2004), reproduced here, was organized verse by verse, aiming to facilitate the comparison with the Latin text; it is not, however, a metric translation; in addition, an attempt was made to maintain, whenever possible, the ornaments (figures, tropes, and metaplasms) present in the original. The commentary on the text explores the characteristics of its elocution, such as metric particularities, the presence of ornaments and their mimetic use; Ovids allusions to Greek and Latin models, through which much of the meaning of the text is constructed; the critical fortune of the episodes and passages; finally, I have tried to provide the necessary information for the apt understanding of a text whose context of production, historical references and dialogue with tradition are extremely distant from the modern reader
