Este trabalho faz parte do projeto "Bruxas Paulistas: Edição Filológica de Documentação sobre Feitiçaria" que desenvolve pesquisas relacionadas à documentação contida no Arquivo da Cúria Metropolitana de São Paulo acerca de autos inquisitoriais e de denúncia para casos de crime de feitiçaria ocorridos na província durante o século XVIII. Tal projeto está ligado ao Departamento de Letras Clássicas e Vernáculas da Faculdade de Filosofia Ciências e Letras da USP. Essa dissertação tem como proposta editar autos coletados no Arquivo e analisa-los à luz da filologia de forma a reconhecer as mentalidades presentes nas comunidades que produziram e por onde circularam tais documentos, de forma a identificar as leituras construidas sobre os grupos sociais presentes, desvendando os preconceitos explicitados nas tipificações dos que praticavam os crimes de feitiçaria, assim como daqueles que serviam de testemunhas para as investigações. Da mesma forma a investigação aqui praticada pretende reconhecer na seleção de palavras para se fazer as acusações ou defesas dos denunciados, que elementos tornam os atos tolerados ou não, assim como a seleção de silenciamentos sobre determinadas características dos envolvidos nos autos. Assim, esse trabalho objetiva mostrar que o reconhecimento de minorias sociais, como bastardos, mestiços e mulheres, como ameaças à ordem social estabeleceu uma visão preconceituosa sobre tais grupos, tornando-os bodes expiatórios, cuja perseguição reestabelece a ordem.

This work is part of the project "Witches of São Paulo: Philological Edition of Documentation on Sorcery" which develops research related to the documentation contained in the Archive of the Metropolitan Curia of São Paulo about inquisitorial and denunciation proceedings for cases of sorcery crime that occurred in the province during the This project is linked to the Department of Classical and Vernacular Letters of the Faculty of Philosophy, Sciences and Letters of USP. This dissertation aims to edit records collected in the Archive and analyze them in the light of philology in order to recognize the mentalities present in the communities that produced and through which these documents circulated, in order to identify the readings built on the social groups present, unraveling the prejudices explained in the typifications of those who practiced witchcraft crimes, as well as those who served as witnesses for the investigations. way the research practiced here intends to recognize cer in the selection of words to make the accusations or defenses of the accused, which elements make the acts tolerated or not, as well as the selection of silencing on certain characteristics of those involved in the case. Thus, this work aims to show that the recognition of social minorities, such as bastards, mixed race and women, as threats to the social order established a prejudiced view of such groups, making them scapegoats, whose persecution reestablishes order.
