O Sumário de Antônia Maria reúne denúncias, interrogatórios, diligências, os termos de juramento e encerramento que envolvem os interrogatórios e a sentença do caso de Antônia Maria de Almeida, acusada por conhecidos de ter em sua posse uma partícula de hóstia consagrada. O caso ocorre na Capitania de Minas Gerais, nos últimos anos do século XVIII. Entre idas e vindas entre a colônia portuguesa e o Reino, as investigações duram aproximadamente quatro anos. Salvaguardado atualmente no Arquivo Nacional da Torre do Tombo, o Sumário nos fornece material tanto para estudos históricos quanto filológicos. Na primeira parte, apresentamos uma contextualização histórica da Capitania de Minas Gerais no século XVIII. A seguir, contextualiza-se o Tribunal do Santo Ofício e sua atuação a partir do Regimento de 1774, influenciado pelo Iluminismo e significativo para mudanças em seu funcionamento. Ao final da primeira parte nos concentramos na denunciada, Antônia Maria, e no caráter de seus supostos crimes, verificando como eles expressam uma religiosidade característica da época e do lugar onde ela vivia. Na segunda parte, apresentamos as edições fac-similar e semidiplomática do Sumário. Segue-se a análise paleográfica do punho de seus principais autores, José Teixeira Camargo, vigário da Vara de Pitangui, e seu escrivão João Pereira Guimarães, e o notário do Santo Ofício, Miguel Martins de Azevedo. Por fim, apresentamos uma análise diplomática das partes que compõem o Sumário e breves comentários codicológicos sobre o manuscrito. Pretendeu-se, no presente estudo, contribuir tanto para a pesquisa linguística, na medida em que se publica uma edição conservadora do documento, quanto para a história das Minas Gerais colonial, tendo como perspectiva de olhar sobre o texto a Filologia e as disciplinas por ela abarcadas, consideradas indispensáveis ao fazer histórico. Além disso, os resultados das análises paleográfica e diplomática podem auxiliar na composição de um panorama sobre as práticas de escrita e de leitura na América Portuguesa, ainda em elaboração

The summary procedure of Antônia Maria brings together denunciations, interrogations, diligences, the terms of oath and closing that involve the interrogations and the sentence of the case of Antônia Maria de Almeida, accused by acquaintances of having in her possession a particle of consecrated host. The case takes place in the captaincy of Minas Gerais, in the last years of the 18th century. Between comings and goings between the Portuguese colony and the kingdom, the investigations lasted approximately four years. Currently safeguarded in the National Archive of Torre do Tombo, the summary procedure provides us with material for both historical and philological studies. In the first part, we present a historical context of the captaincy of Minas Gerais in the 18th century. Next, the Holy Office Court and its performance from the 1774 Regiment, influenced by the Enlightenment and significant for changes in its functioning, are contextualized. At the end of the first part, we focus on the accused, Antônia Maria, and the character of her alleged crimes, verifying how they express a religiosity characteristic of the time and place where she lived. In the second part, we present the facsimile and semidiplomatic editions of the summary procedure. This is followed by a paleographic analysis of the handwriting of its main authors, José Teixeira Camargo, vicar of the Vara de Pitangui, and his clerk João Pereira Guimarães, and the notary of the Holy Office, Miguel Martins de Azevedo. Finally, we present a diplomatic analysis of the parts that make up the summary procedure and brief codicological comments about the manuscript. The aim of this study is to contribute both to linguistic research, as a conservative edition of the document is published, and to the history of colonial Minas Gerais, having as a perspective the look at the text Philology and the disciplines it entails encompassed, considered indispensable to make history. In addition, the results of the palaeography and diplomatic analysis can help in composing an overview of writing and reading practices in Portuguese America, which is still under development
