Neste estudo, objetivamos investigar como o jornal O Estado de S. Paulo representa os candidatos a prefeito e os indícios de seus posicionamentos quanto à preferência e à escolha do candidato para a administração da prefeitura de São Paulo. Desse modo, selecionamos seis gêneros informativos compostos por notícias e reportagens políticas, que foram publicadas no caderno de política do referido jornal, no período de agosto de 2016 a setembro de 2016. A análise do material foi baseada na metodologia da pesquisa qualitativa. Nesta perspectiva, as análises do corpus estão articuladas ao pressuposto teórico-metodológico na teoria da Linguística Sistêmica-Funcional, sobretudo, nos estudos de Halliday e Mathiessen (1994, 2004), Cunha e Souza (2011) e Fuzer e Cabral (2014) - concernentes ao sistema de transitividade que se configura na metafunção experiencial, dadas as experiências apresentadas sobre os participantes e descritas em veículo de mídia impressa. Diante do exposto, o eixo discursivo é explorado pela Análise Crítica do Discurso, elencando a polarização Nós x Eles articulada às práticas, por meio dos estudos de Van Dijk (2008) a partir das contribuições de Ramalho e Resende (2011, 2016) e outros autores. O aporte teórico referente às Ciências Políticas enunciados por Bobbio (2011), Galego (2018), Braga (1997) e outros autores orientam para as interpretações de indícios do apoio do veículo de comunicação paulistana a um candidato a outro. Além disso, o ponto de partida se deu por meio do levantamento das anáforas diretas que se referiram aos nomes dos participantes, candidatos ao cargo de prefeito da cidade de São Paulo, que foram enunciados pelo referido jornal OESP, estudados por Koch (2008), Silva (2018) e Fontana (2014).

In this study, we aim to investigate how the newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo represents the candidates for mayor and the indications of their positions regarding the preference and choice of the candidate for the administration of the city hall of São Paulo. Thus, we selected six informative genres composed of news and political reports, which were published in the policy section of that newspaper, from August 2016 to September 2016. The analysis of the material was based on the methodology of qualitative research. In this perspective, the analysis of the corpus is linked to the theoretical-methodological assumption in the theory of Systemic-Functional Linguistics, especially in the studies of Halliday and Mathiessen (1994, 2004), Cunha and Souza (2011) and Fuzer and Cabral (2014) - concerning the transitivity system that is configured in the experiential metafunction, given the experiences presented about the participants and described in a printed media vehicle. In view of the above, the discursive axis is explored by Critical Discourse Analysis, listing the polarization Us x Them articulated to practices, through the studies of Van Dijk (2008) from the contributions of Ramalho and Resende (2011, 2016) and others authors. The theoretical contribution regarding Political Sciences enunciated by Bobbio (2011), Galego (2018), Braga (1997) and other authors guide the interpretations of evidence of support from the São Paulo communication vehicle to one candidate for another. In addition, the starting point was through the survey of direct anaphors that referred to the names of the participants, candidates for the position of mayor of the city of São Paulo, which were enunciated by the newspaper OESP, studied by Koch (2008), Silva (2018) and Fontana (2014).
