Abstract in English
This thesis is carried out with a corpus formed by 12 manuscript books written at Santana de Parnaíba's Town Hall, dated between 1679 and 1839. On the covers and spines of these codices, identification tags are found, where we read "Book of Minutes". However, the books' content, until April 1829, consists of documents entitled "term". The objective of the work is, therefore, to determine the reasons that led to the labeling that points, in these codices, to a document type different from the one they contain. Considering the legal and administrative nature of the documents and the fact that the problem detected resides in the divergence between its original denomination (term) and its late identification materialized by labels (minute), we adopted, among the so-called "philological disciplines", the theoretical-methodological framework of Diplomatics. So, we analyze the internal elements of the two document types to establish points of proximity and distance between them. Then, based on archival principles and concepts, we examine the layers of information observed on the labels to understand aspects of their production and posting onto the books. The results show that, from an internal point of view, the terms pass through structural alterations that reveal a change in the degree of its legal representation, which equates them to the minutes that replace them. In relation to external elements, the different labeling processes can be dated between the mid-1800s and the first decades of the 20th century. We conclude that the divergence between denominations is, on the one hand, consequence of the similarity between terms and minutes, and, on the other, cause of the deletion of the former in the scientific production related to Town Halls.
