Abstract in English
This thesis aims to research the sociocultures evidenced in the context of Chinese as a Heritage Language in Brazil, conventionally conceived as Huayu, which has been taught, developed and inherited in the Chinese immigrant community in Brazilian territory, especially in the City of São Paulo, as well as the identity implications, from the perspectives of Linguistic Landscape (LANDRY; BOURHIS, 1997; GORTER, 2006; GORTER; CENOZ, 2007; SHOHAMY; GORTER, 2009; JAWORSKI; THURLOW, 2010; BLOMMAERT, 2013; MELO-PFEIFER; LIMA-HERNANDES, 2020), superdiversity (VERTOVEC, 2007; BLOMMAERT; RAMPTON, 2011) and the cognitive-functional premises (GIVÓN, 1995, 2005). I used varied data collection methods, such as questionnaire, interview and family tree drawing, from which some children of Chinese immigrants who are studying Chinese in huaxiao (Chinese community schools) in São Paulo, and the collected data were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively, in order to show that the Linguistic Landscape of Chinese as a Language of Heritage in Brazil is marked by sociocultural superdiversity, evidenced by its speakers of heritage in a continuum that involves some relevant criteria: Chinese family, huaxiao and even names of these Sino-Brazilians. The implications of identities are reflected by the parallel hybridity verified in the personal name and in the degree of cultural belonging to the Chinese nation
