Em nosso trabalho, objetivamos comprovar a recorrência do tema "Morte" na obra do poeta Torquato Neto, cuja produção artística integrou de forma essencial o panorama cultural do Brasil nos anos 60, especialmente por sua participação no movimento tropicalista. Para tal, foram selecionadas algumas de suas canções, nas quais, a Morte, na forma de temas ou figuras, faz-se efetivamente presente. Utilizando-nos, para tal, da instrumentação fornecida pelo aparelho metodológico da semiótica greimasiana e, mais especialmente, dos pressupostos e modelos resultantes do aprofundamento dos estudos acerca da semiótica da canção

This dissertation is intended to prove the 'death' theme in the works of Torquato Neto - a Brazilian poet who wrote during the Tropicalia period in the sixties and who was also a composer. The theme of death is present throughout the lyrics selected for this work. During my research I made use of the methodology supplied by the Greimasian Semiotics
