Esta dissertação se propõe a produzir o Léxico Ilustrado Pedagógico de Plantas e Animais Karitiana como material didático para a escola indígena da reserva karitiana. O léxico foi elaborado a partir de uma pesquisa participante que envolveu anciões, lideranças, agricultores-extrativistas e professores da escola karitiana valorizando o saber tradicional pelo viés da etnociência. A pesquisa que acompanha e embasa a produção do material, aborda esse processo sob um prisma interdisciplinar, onde lançamos mão de diversas áreas do conhecimento, como, linguística, antropologia, educação e biologia para responder a seguinte pergunta: é possível construir um léxico etnocientífico de plantas e animais para a escola indígena? Esta pesquisa contribui para i) a preservação da língua e da cultura do povo Karitiana, ii) a produção de corpus na língua karitiana e, por fim, iii) contribuir para a elaboração futura de um dicionário completo de língua karitiana que está sendo elaborado pela Professora Luciana Storto e alunos. Partindo da listagem e descrição em língua karitiana de uma parcela das espécies vegetais e animais que se encontram na reserva karitiana Kyõwã, o Léxico Ilustrado Pedagógico de Plantas e Animais Karitiana tem como foco seu uso escolar e o registro do conhecimento tradicional a respeito do bioma onde vive o povo Karitiana. É importante para os estudos de linguística o levantamento do vocabulário da língua a fim de não só enriquecer o material didático e o ensino bilíngue, mas também os estudos antropológicos que concebem a relação do ser humano com seu meio. A pesquisa inclui também a identificação das espécies pelo nome científico bem como a tradução das palavras para o português para subsídio do dicionário da língua karitiana.

This thesis aims to produce the Illustrated Pedagogical Lexicon of Karitiana Plants and Animals as didactic material for Karitiana indigenous school. The lexicon was elaborated in a participatory research that involved the elders, leaders, farmers-extractivists and teachers of the Karitiana school valuing the traditional knowledge through the point of view of ethnoscience. The research that accompanies and supports the material elaboration approaches the process from an interdisciplinary perspective. We use many areas of knowledge, such as linguistics, anthropology, education and biology to answer the following question: is it possible to build an ethnoscientific lexicon of plants and animals for indigenous school? This research contributes to i) the linguistic and cultural preservation of the Karitiana people, ii) the creation of the Karitiana language corpus and, finally, iii) the elaboration of a Karitiana complete dictionary that is already being elaborated by professor Luciana Storto and students. Based on the Karitiana language listing and description of some plants and animals species found in the Kyõwã Karitiana Reserve, the Karitian Illustrated Pedagogical Plant and Animal Lexicon focuses on its school use and the recording of traditional knowledge about the biome where the Karitiana people live. It is important for linguistic studies to raise the vocabulary of the language in order not only to enrich the didactic material and bilingual teaching, but also the anthropological studies that conceive the relationship between human beings and their environment. The research also includes the identification of species by scientific name and the translation of the words into Portuguese for the Karitiana language dictionary.
