Este trabalho foi estruturado com base em dois pontos principais: de um lado, os fundamentos teóricos da Lexicologia, da Lexicografia, da Terminologia e da Terminografia; do outro, os agrotóxicos: sua história, as leis brasileiras que os regulamentam e, mais especificamente, seu vocabulário. O corpus documental é constituído dos relatórios de agrotóxicos da Anvisa, órgão governamental responsável pelo registro e controle desses produtos. Considerando-se as dificuldades enfrentadas pelo usuário de agrotóxicos no que se refere a uma melhor leitura e compreensão das instruções impressas nas embalagens, manuais e folhetos educacionais sobre esses produtos e, baseada nos modelos teóricos da lexicologia, da lexicografia, da terminologia e da terminografia, nossa pesquisa apresenta como objetivo geral a produção de um glossário em linguagem vulgarizada, constituído dos termos mais relevantes e freqüentes constantes das embalagens dos produtos agrotóxicos empregados na cultura do tomate. Como objetivos específicos, a pesquisa divisa também a criação de um cartaz de semiótica complexa, apresentando os procedimentos necessários para realização correta e segura da tríplice lavagem e, ainda, a elaboração de um folheto indicativo dos principais Equipamentos de Proteção Individual usados no manuseio de pesticidas pelo emprego de uma semiótica principalmente visual

The present work has its structure based on two main points: on one hand, the theoretical fundaments of Lexicology, Lexicography, Terminology and Terminography; on the other hand, the pesticides: their history , the Brazilian laws to which they are subjected to and, especially, its lexicon. The corpus is comprised of reports on pesticides issued by Anvisa, organ of the government which is responsible for the register and control of these products. Considering the problems that users of pesticides face when it comes to a better reading and comprehension of printed instructions of the labels on the bottles, manuals and educational leaflets about these products and, based on the theoretical models of Lexicology, Lexicography, Terminology and Terminography, our research presents as a major objective the production of a glossary in vulgarized language, formed by the most relevant and frequent terms which appear in the printed labels with instructions for the use of the pesticides, employed in the tomato culture. As specific purposes, this work intends the development of a poster of a complex semiotics, presenting the necessary procedures for a safe and correct accomplishment of the triple-rinse and, also, the creation of a leaflet showing the main Personal Protective Equipments, used during the handling of pesticides by means of mainly visual semiotics
