O objetivo desta tese é descrever o processo semiótico que se desenvolve em uma conversa em libras entre dois surdos adultos fluentes nessa língua, analisando de que modo as ações bucais empregadas por eles podem constituir práticas corporeadas de criar entendimentos situados na conversa (STREECK, 2009; ENFIELD, 2013). Para tanto, tomo como base os fundamentos do que está sendo chamado de Semiótica das Interações, isto é, um campo de pesquisa interdisciplinar que perpassa o trabalho de pesquisadores que, em uma postura que se distancia dos ditames da Modernidade, ocupam-se em descrever aquilo que há de local, temporal, contingencial na significação emergente nas interações entre seres vivos. Essa semiótica envolve uma parceria entre as teorias de base enativa, inspiradas pelo trabalho de Varela e seus colegas (VARELA; ROSCH; THOMPSON, 1991), e aquelas obras filosóficas e científicas que agrupam reflexões e descrições desenvolvidas sob o rótulo de perspectiva de habitação (POLANYI, 2009; HEIDEGGER, 1971; INGOLD, 2000; STREECK, 2015; GOODWIN, 2018). Dessa perspectiva, a semiose é vista como um sistema complexo que se auto-organiza dinamicamente em face a perturbações, em um processo em que não há lugar para descrições estáticas. Com base nas noções (neo)peirceanas de signos, o entendimento é o de que, em eventos que reconhecemos como enunciados multidimensionais, instigadores do processo semiótico (R) se co-constituem dinâmica e temporalmente com objetos de interpretação (O) enquanto promovem sua co-emergência com eventos interpretantes (I), formando assim as unidades temporais de significação a partir das quais as conversas se desenvolvem. As descrições apresentadas nesta tese se voltam para a participação das ações bucais nesse processo, tal como elas são empregadas pelos surdos na conversa em questão. Os resultados apontam para a necessidade de uma maior abertura nas ciências da linguagem para aquilo que sempre foi deixado de lado nesses estudos, a saber, o caráter situado, local, temporal, corporeado e contingencial das ações que constituem as diferentes facetas do processo semiótico no mundo experiencial dos seres vivos

This thesis aims at describing the semiotic process that takes place in a conversation in Libras between two fluent deaf adults, analyzing how their use of mouth actions can constitute embodied practices that create situated understandings in conversation (STREECK, 2009; ENFIELD, 2013). The basis for the work is the semiotics of interaction, an interdisciplinary field distant from the dictates of Modernity, as it aims at describing that which is local, temporal, contingent in meaning emerging in the interactions of living beings. This semiotics involves a partnership between enactive theories inspired by the work of Varela and his colleagues (VARELA; ROSCH; THOMPSON, 1991), with those philosophical and scientific works that describe and develop what is known as a dwelling perspective (POLANYI, 2009; HEIDEGGER, 1971; INGOLD, 2000; STREECK, 2015; GOODWIN, 2018). Semiosis is seen as a complex system that dynamically self-organizes in the face of disturbances, in a process in which there is no place for static descriptions. Based on (neo)Peircean notions of signs, the understanding is that in events we recognize as multidimensional utterances, instigators of the semiotic process (R) dynamically and temporally co-constitute themselves with objects of interpretation (O) while fostering their co-emergence with interpretant events (I), thus forming the temporal units of meaning from which conversations develop. The descriptions presented here focus on the participation of mouth actions in this process, as they are used between two deaf people in a conversation. This study points at the need for language studies to open up for what has always been left aside: the situated, local, temporal, corporeal, and contingent character of the actions that constitute different facets of the semiotic process in the experiential world of living beings
