Examina-se neste trabalho, através de um enfoque pragamático, o uso, nas interações verbais correntes da linguagem oral, de certas estruturas linguísticas pré-padronizadas, fixas ou cristalizadas, reconhecidas pelos usuários da língua como enunciados proverbiais. Essa análise se apoia nos princípios teóricos relativos aos atos de linguagem, em algumas adjunções que Alain Berrendonner propõe quanto a esses princípios, em sua teoria das menções como fatos metaenunciativos e, finalmente, em uma "nova teorização" sobre os enunciados proverbiais que vem privilegiando seu uso no discurso. Observou-se um corpus constituído de registros de ocorrências de E.P. durante interações verbais, orais. Constatou-se que, nos atos realizados na linguagem, por meio do enunciado proverbial, são, muitas vezes, os efeitos perlocucionais, ressentidos pelo enunciatário, que permitem identificar ou desambigiiizar alguns dos valores ilocucionais desse ato. Constatou-se uma gama variada de efeitos positivos (agradar, divertir, estabelecer elos comuns, demonstrar solidariedade, etc.) e negativos (satirizar, ironizar, criticar, advertir, ameaçar, ofender, etc.), com seus valores ilocucionais correspondentes. Como outros resultados identificou-se um conjunto de funções peculiares ao uso dos enunciados em questão: a de economia de linguagem, a argumentativa ou retórica, a emblemática, etc.. Essas funções determinam a opção, consciente ou inconsciente pelo enunciado proverbial, em contextos, nos quais, aparentemente, os diversos outros modos de expressão linguística não são tão eficientes quanto aos resultados que se deseja obter pelo uso da linguagem

This paper examines the use of certain fixed or frozen linguistic structures reconizable by the users of the language as proverbs, from a pragamatical point of view. This analysis is based on the theoretical principies of speech acts and on some contributions by Alain Berrendonner, such as his "theory of citations" considered as meta-enunciative facts. Finaly it also takes into account the "new theorization" regarding proverbs, namely the form in which they appear in discourse. The "corpus" observed is composed of occuring registrations of proverbs in oral verbal interactions. It has been observed that, in the speech acts performed by the proverbs, frequently only the perlocutory effects felt by the enunciatee identify illocutionary forces. A varied range of positive efects has been noticed (to please, to amuse, to establish common links, to demonstrate solidarity, etc.) and also negative ones (to satirize, to criticize, to warn, to threaten, to offend, etc.) with their corresponding illocutionary values. A group of functions peculiar to the use of such utterances was also identified: economy of speech, the argumentative or rhetoric functions, also the emblematic, etc. These functions determine the conscious or unconscious option of the proverb in the contexts where other ways of linguistic expression are not as effícient in producing the desired results
