O presente trabalho tem por objetivo analisar aspectos da sociedade e a dinâmica da economia florentina, por meio dos Libri della Famiglia, de Leon Battista Alberti (1404-1472), levando em consideração as proposições do escritor sobre a administração do espaço doméstico e a reflexão sobre a boa economia. Inicialmente, discutimos as formas de alianças da família Alberti com outras famílias de elite de Florença entre o final do século XIV e início do XV, a exemplo das relações matrimoniais e formação de sociedade econômica, a companhia Alberti, em um período marcado pelo exílio dos parentes do escritor, por conta das disputas políticas da comuna. Em seguida, analisamos como a noção de racionalidade econômica possibilita a compreensão das discussões contidas nos Libri sobre a administração do espaço doméstico. Por fim, indicamos que as boas ações no campo da economia estavam baseadas em um conjunto de valores éticos (diligência, prudência, honra, virtude, etc). O trabalho procurou contribuir para os estudos sobre a aplicabilidade da noção de racionalidade econômica para as sociedades pré-industriais

The present work aims to analyze the relationship between the economic propositions contained in the Libri de/la Famigliat by Leon Battista Albertit and the development of mercantile practices in Florentine society, considering the period between the end o f the 14th century and the beginning ofthe 15th century. The work is structured into three chapters. In the first chapter, we discuss the Alberti family's alliances with families criticai of Florence's oligarchic sectors and economic agents involved in large-scale trade. Then, we analyze the interactions between the domestic economy and the market economy contained in Libri, highlighting that the writer's formulations on household management and the figure of the domestic administrator are based on the principles of economic rationality. Finally, we study how ethical foundations guide Alberti's notion of economy, through a discursive elaboration in defense of the notion of common good. From this perspective, the work intends to contribute to the historiographical discussion about the economy in pre-industrial societies
