Abstract in Portuguese
A metodologia adotada é a História Oral, especificamente, a História Oral Temática.

Abstract in English
This thesis explores the topic of football as work for women in Brazil, focusing on the period from 1983 to 2023. The study aims to understand how Brazilian female footballers have experienced and continue to experience football as work. It seeks to comprehend the meanings attributed by them to football as work, their experiences, how they felt, and what defines a professional player. The research is situated within the field of Social History and Gender Studies. The lack of visibility of women in sports justifies the importance of addressing this theme. The adopted methodology is Oral History, specifically Thematic Oral History. Thus, it is considered that the oral narratives themselves are the object of analysis, not merely as a way to "fill documentary gaps". With the establishment of the documentary corpus, the following themes are addressed: identity, living conditions, working conditions, precarity, educational background, motherhood, and retirement. It is concluded that the experiences lived by the players throughout their careers vary immensely, but there are also similarities arising from the specific characteristics of being a female player and the historical context of women's football in Brazil.
