O presente trabalho propõe uma investigação em torno do livro Cultura posta em questão de Ferreira Gullar, tendo em conta tanto o seu texto quanto os demais elementos necessários para sua composição. Inicialmente concebido para ser publicado em abril de 1964, toda a tiragem da obra desapareceu junto ao incêndio da sede da UNE, durante os eventos associados ao golpe civil-militar de 1º de abril do mesmo ano. Tal investigação leva em conta, em uma etapa inicial, as articulações entre indivíduos e entidades que possibilitaram a primeira tentativa de publicação do livro, o que inclui a criação de uma editora; para tanto, é explorado o corpo paratextual de informações presentes na obra, em conjunto com diversos documentos ligados a tais entidades e notícias na imprensa da época. Em uma etapa posterior, o foco se concentra no texto do livro, buscando cotejar historicamente as discussões ali presentes, de forma direta ou indireta; para tanto, são articuladas reflexões em torno de conceitos específicos presentes em Cultura posta em questão tais como cultura popular, arte, vanguarda, intelectual etc. , buscando situá-los dentro de seu contexto próprio de entendimento à época. Reimpresso em 1965 por outra editora, e com projeto gráfico novo, o livro passaria a circular em um contexto gradualmente mais distante daquele para o qual fora engendrado

This work aims to investigate Ferreira Gullars book Cultura posta em questão [Culture called into question], considering both its text and the other necessary elements for its composition. Initially conceived to be published in April of 1964, all of its numbers printed disappeared with the fire at the National Union of Students (UNE) headquarters, among the events connected to the April 1st, 1964 civil-military coup in Brazil. This investigation takes into account, in a first stage, the articulations between individuals and collective entities that made possible the books first publication attempt, which included the creation of a publishing house; in order to do that, a deep dive in the paratextual elements present in Gullars work is carried out, with the help of the many documents linked to those collective entities, and the news in the 1960s Brazilian press. In a subsequent stage, the focus is on the books text, aiming at historically comparing the discussions cited in it, directly or indirectly; in order to do that, some thoughts are articulated around specific concepts used in Cultura posta em questão such as popular culture, art, avant-garde, intellectual, etc. , seeking to situate them within their own understanding context at the time. Reprinted in 1965 by another publishing company, and with a new graphic design, the book would begin its circulation in a context gradually more distant from the one it was originally conceived
