Esta dissertação tem por objetivo analisar parte da trajetória da Editorial Universitaria de Buenos Aires (EUDEBA), uma importante editora de livros argentina ligada à Universidad de Buenos Aires (UBA). A EUDEBA foi criada em 1958 e permanece ativa. Nosso recorte temporal, aqui, parte de 1958 e vai até o ano de 1974. Nesse período, a editora passou por várias administrações e teve de dialogar e negociar com as diversas gestões políticas que ocuparam - de facto ou de direito - os mais altos cargos da Nação e da UBA. Por meio do estudo de fontes históricas de diversos tipos, temos por objetivo lançar luz às relações estabelecidas entre a editora e seu entorno cultural e político ao longo do conturbado século XX argentino. A pesquisa foi feita tendo por base dois questionamentos centrais: de que maneira o projeto editorial da EUDEBA pôde ser concretizado na realidade prática do trabalho de edição de livros? De que maneira o contexto político da Argentina e da América Latina durante os anos 1960 e 1970 afetou o trabalho editorial da empresa? Tais questões foram analisadas por meio de uma metodologia que privilegiou a junção entre as perspectivas da história política e da história da edição de livros. Como resultado, temos a apresentação da EUDEBA como um projeto cultural complexo, marcado por negociações, contradições e, sobretudo, pela construção de representações acerca de seu trabalho editorial que serviram aos mais diversos interesses ideológicos.

This dissertation aims to analyze part of the trajectory of Editorial Universitaria de Buenos Aires (EUDEBA), an important Argentine book publisher linked to the Universidad de Buenos Aires (UBA). EUDEBA was created in 1958 and remains active. Our period, here, starts from 1958 and runs until 1974. During that period, the publisher went through several administrations and had to negotiate with the various political administrations that occupied the highest positions of the Nation and of the UBA. By studying historical sources of various types, we aim to shed light on the relations established between the publisher and its cultural and political environment throughout the troubled 20th century in Argentina. The research was carried out based on two central questions: how could the EUDEBA editorial project be started and developed? How did the political context in Argentina and Latin America during the 1960s and 1970s affect the company's editorial work? Such questions were analyzed using a methodology that privileged the junction between the perspectives of political history and the history of book publishing. As a result, we have an overview of EUDEBA as a complex cultural project, marked by negotiations, contradictions and, above all, by the construction of representations about its editorial work that served the most diverse ideological interests.
