Abstract in English
This paper analyzes the circulation of the mutual education plan in South America - with emphasis on Brazil and Argentina - during the Independences. It starts from the premise that the mutual teaching method, which proposed to instruct hundreds of students in classrooms with only one teacher and some monitors, has become a political-pedagogical plan linked to the defense of public instruction. The chronological simultaneity of the adoption of this project in the main cities of the South American continent allowed to analyze the formation of a network of political and educational mediators. The proposed cut - 1810-1830 - coincides with the moment of intensification of the exchanges of these agents that circulated in the constituted public spaces: the scenarios of the wars of Independence. It was in this context that the readings on liberal ideas, especially utilitarian ones, of Benthamian liberalism, took the form of public policy projects that would propose the construction of new schools, based on the ideas of modernity, science and technique. In order to reconstruct these relationships, the purpose of this thesis is to analyze the exchange of impressions and experiences between these agents through texts, letters and teaching reports, prepared by the journalist and educational presses of each of these regions analyzed and taken as documentary sources. In order to direct the work, he used the theory of Transnational and Connected History, used mainly to identify the microscales in which the exchanges of ideas were more intense.
