Abstract in English
In this work, we seek to understand how the relations between the provincial Roman populations and the barbarians in the 4th and 5th century Gaul took place and how they were transformed. To this end, we approached three main contexts in which they appear in the documentation: borders, cities and settlements. We start from the point of view that the identities of "Romans" and "barbarians" are fluid, and we confront the situations in which these interactions emerged in different types of documents to show that relations between provincials and barbarians did not always revolve around the phenomenon identity. In view of this, we also investigated under what circumstances and with what intention these identity categories were mobilized in these contexts.
