Videogames

Abstract in English
This thesis aims to understand whether video games can be used as tools for teaching history and which aspects should guide the teaching practice of those who use them. Setting up a panorama of video games as na object of studies and justifying its importance from a brief historical analysis that elucidates the size of the industry and its cultural importance, we establish relations between the use of electronic games and other ludic activities in education. Such relations are confronted with a brief analysis of the brazilian educational reality, creating hypotheses about the possibilities for video games to act as a tool to improve this reality. Based on references, such as the analysis of historical documents in the classroom and the problem spaces, which justify their educational use, specifically in history, three practices are elaborated, using Age of Empires II, This War of Mine and ÁRIDA: Bakcland's Awakening, which aim to validate the theories built on the value of video games as tools to enhance history teaching. The applications result in significant gains in the reaction and evaluated learning, justifying the use of video games as a powerful teaching tool, although the brazilian school reality has few conditions to adopt it.
