Entre as obras conservadas na Seção de Manuscritos da Biblioteca Nacional do Rio de Janeiro encontra-se um livro de horas do final da Idade Média cujo número de localização é 50,1,016 e que fez parte do acervo da Real Biblioteca Portuguesa. Feito segundo o uso litúrgico de Paris, ele tem 160 fólios, mede 180 x 130 mm e seu texto foi escrito em letras góticas, em latim, com alguns trechos em francês. Em relação à sua datação e autoria, François Avril sugeriu, em um artigo de 2016, que ele teria sido feito por um Seguidor do chamado Mestre de Coëtivy, um dos principais pintores e iluminadores parisienses da segunda metade do século XV. Partindo destas informações, esta tese de Doutorado constituiu-se como um estudo monográfico e interdisciplinar sobre o livro de horas 50,1,016 em que dois conjuntos de questões se colocaram: aquelas que envolvem a obra em si, incluindo a análise de sua materialidade, seus textos e imagens e as relações estabelecidas entre eles, e aquelas que envolvem seu contexto de produção sua data, local de produção e o ateliê responsável por suas iluminuras. Estes eixos de análise não deixaram de privilegiar os aspectos históricos e sociais dos contextos dos quais o livro fez parte, bem como seus usos e funções. Para alcançar tais objetivos empregou-se uma metodologia que buscava analisar o manuscrito como um todo, analisando-o do ponto de vista codicológico, paleográfico, artístico, estilístico, histórico e religioso, partindo de uma bibliografia específica sobre cada um destes campos, e empregando também a comparação deste códice com outros códices do Mestre de Coëtivy e de seu Seguidor, quando necessário

There is in the Manuscripts Division of the National Library of Rio de Janeiro a book of hours from the end of the Middle Ages whose location number is 50,1,016 and that was part of the Royal Portuguese Library. Made according to the liturgical use of Paris, it has 160 folios, measures 180 x 130 mm and is written in Gothic letters, in Latin, with some parts in French. Regarding its dating and authorship, François Avril suggested, in a 2016 article, that it would have been made by a Follower of the so-called Coëtivy Master, one of the main Parisian painters and illuminators of the second half of the 15th century. Based on this information, this doctoral thesis is a monographic and interdisciplinary study on the book of hours 50,1,016 in which two groups of questions were posed: those involving the book itself, including the analysis of its materiality, its texts and images and the relationships established between them, and those involving its production context its date and place of production and the atelier responsible for its illumination. These axes of analysis did not fail to privilege the historical and social aspects of the contexts in which the book took part, as well as its uses and functions. To achieve these objectives, a methodology that seeks to analyze the manuscript as a whole was used, analyzing it from the codicological, paleographic, artistic, stylistic, historical and religious points of view, starting from a specific bibliography on each of these fields, and using also the comparison of this codex with other codices of the Coëtivy Master and his Follower, when necessary
