Este trabalho problematiza a atuação da Editora Luzeiro entre c.1920-1995 no mercado editorial, em especifico da literatura de cordel. A Editora Luzeiro tem sido desde o século XX um dos empreendimentos mais importantes da indústria editorial brasileira. Responsável por implementar novos suportes para o cordel, a Luzeiro além de realizar mudanças nas dimensões dos folhetos assim como na qualidade do papel de impressão; introduziu a imagem colorida na capa dos cordéis em substituição das xilogravuras utilizadas nos folhetos produzidos no Norte e Nordeste. Essas mudanças ocasionaram drásticas transformações nas formas de produção e circulação dos folhetos. A Editora Luzeiro redefiniu as formas de se pensar a literatura de cordel no país, assim como a cultura e as identidades produzidas acerca do Nordeste e do nordestino. O trabalho recorreu, além dos folhetos, a outros livros que permitem traçar a trajetória editorial da Luzeiro. Utilizou também documentos de negociações efetuadas entre poetas e os proprietários da Editora. Por fim, recorreu a metodologia da História Oral que permitiu, por meio de entrevistas, realizar uma compreensão das técnicas, condições de produção e circulação dos cordéis produzidos na Editora Luzeiro. Teoricamente esta pesquisa se fundamentou nas contribuições de Roger Chartier e Robert Darnton para refletir acerca da história do livro, da edição e da leitura; Aleida Assman para considerar a perspectiva da memória, além de estabelecer um diálogo com Durval Muniz de Albuquerque Júnior para problematizar a concepção de identidade nordestina.

This study problematizes the work activities of Editora Luzeiro in the periodo between 1920 and 1995 (c. 1920-1955) in the editorial market, specifically cordel literature. The Editora Luzeiro has been one of the most important companies in the Brazilian publishing industry since the 20th century and was. Responsible for implementing new supports for the cordel literature.The Editora Luzeiro in addition to making changes in the dimensions of the brochure of the cordel as well as in the quality of the printing paper, introduced the color image on the cover of the cordel, replacing the xilogravuras (xylograph) in the brochure of cordel produced in the North and Northeast of Brazil. These changes caused profound transformations in the forms of production and circulation of the cordel leaflets. The Editora Luzeiro redefined the ways of thinking cordel literature in the country, as well as the culture and identities produced about the Northeast and the northeasterner. The study uses, in addition to cordel leaflets, to other books that enable tracing the editorial trajectory of Editora Luzeiro. It will also use negotiation documents made between poets and Editora's owners. Finally, it uses the methodology of Oral History which, through interviews, will enable , to understand the techniques, conditions of production and circulation of the produced cordel literature at Editora Luzeiro. Theoretically, this research is based on the contributions of Roger Chartier and Robert Darnton to reflect on the history of the book, edition and reading, of Aleida Assman to consider the memory perspective, in addition to establisha dialogue with Durval Muniz de Albuquerque Júnior for problematizing the concept of northeastern identity.
