Abstract in English
Victor Klemperer (1881 - 1960) was an important german philologist, assimilated jew, converted to protestantismo at a young age, university professor, was married to Eva Klemperer, panist and "not jew". The fact of not being jew protected him many times of a possible deportation to a concentration camp. It was also her who many times guaranteed the minimum to the couple's survival, since she went out to the streets to acquire food with government provided vouchers. Klemperer wrote several diaries, being these: Curriculum Vitae (with no translation to Portuguese), which embrace the years from 1881 to 1918; The diaries of Victor Klemperer - clandestine testimony of a jew in Nazi Germany, which refer to the period from 1933 to 1945; and The diaries of Victor Klemperer - The Lesser Evil (also not translated to Portuguese), which comprise the years from 1945 to 1959; He published many important Works about french literature from the 18th century and in his magnum opus LTI (Lingua Tertii Imperii) he made a thorough study about the usage of nazi terms and how they used language as a means to manipulate the people. This research intends to analyze his diaries from the post-war period to understand how does the resumption of life occur for Klemperer after the end of the Second World War and the social and political contexts of the time from collected data. Nonetheless, we also analyze parts of his diaries from the nazi period, since we seek to understand how the city where he lived, Dresden, was destroyed, and his leaving from there, among other factors. Since his work LTI was part of the diaries, it will also be used as a source.
